Our Team

Natalya Nicholson

PRESIDENT

Natalya is the President of Vision Financial Inc. and has over 10 years of experience in insurance and financial advisory services.

She graduated from McGill University with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics and Geophysics and completed her Masters of Science Degree in Space Physics at the University of Calgary. She further pursued PhD studies in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. Although it was a switch from surveying and researching the northern lights, she enjoys the analytics of financial and insurance advising and working through the planning process with clients.

When not working, Natalya is dedicated to giving back to her community. She has been the president of her neighbourhood Community Association in Calgary and the President of the McGill Alumni Association. She is also passionate about programs and organizations that develop confidence, leadership and problem-solving skills for girls and young women. She has been a long-time volunteer with numerous science and math outreach programs and served on the Board of Directors for the Calgary Girls Charter School for 9 years. She completed her 3rd term in the role of Board Chair for the public charter school.

Natalya enjoys travelling; some of her favourite trips have included Sumatra, Germany, Finland, Italy and China. She loves spending time in BC visiting family and keeps active with her menagerie of pets, gardening, Jazzercise and attempting to memorize the whole set in her Tai Chi classes.

Paul Barker LLQP, GBA, CEBS

DIRECTOR OF GROUP BENEFITS

Paul Barker is the Director of Vision Financial Benefits. Paul entered the industry to address a clear customer need for strategic thinking and exceptional customer service.

Paul is known for his close attention to detail and abides by the principle of ‘listen and understand before speaking’ so that he can respond in a way that clients connect with. He has assembled a strong team of seasoned industry analysts and group planning specialists whose professionalism have enabled the development of long-term relationships with a growing community of clients.

While he maintains his provincial LLQP licensing in multiple provinces, he is also pursuing the CEBS “Canadian Employment Benefits Specialist” designation at Dalhousie University. He currently holds a GBA “Group Benefits Associate” certification from Dalhousie University.

Paul believes in giving back to the community by cultivating financial literacy. He has been the Regional Chair for Junior Achievement, a Mentor at the University of Calgary Hunter Centre For Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as well as a member of the International Agriculture and Agri-Food Committee for the Calgary Stampede.

Paul spends his free time playing golf and walking his two dogs, Teela and Emma through the inner-city parks of Calgary.
